Location: The Little Flower mine is located in the SW1/4SW1/4 sec. 32, T. 1 N., R. 2 W., Fairbanks Meridian. This deposit is on the ridge between the two forks of Eva Creek at an elevation of approximately 1,030 feet; it is about 1.3 miles north of the town of Ester. This mine is locality 15 of Cobb (1972 [MF 410]).
Geology: Gold was produced from a 24-inch vein that trends north and dips 70 E. (Chapman and Foster, 1969, p. D17; Reed, 1938, p. 11). Work was started on the Little Flower mine in January of 1938. The tunnel was driven on the vein for 450 feet; a 50-foot winze was sunk 400 feet from the portal (Reed, 1938, p. 11). In 1938, about 680 tons of ore were produced with an average value of $25 in gold per ton (about 0.71 ounce of gold per ton) (Reed, 1938, p. 12). The gold was reported to be between 773 and 800 fine (Glover, 1950).
Workings: Work was started on the Little Flower mine in January of 1938. The tunnel was driven on the vein for 450 feet; a 50-foot winze was sunk 400 feet from the portal (Reed, 1938, p. 11). In 1938, four men were employed at the mine, using two jackhammers and one stoper (Reed, 1938, p. 12).
Production: In 1938, about 680 tons of ore were produced with an average value of $25 in gold per ton (about 1.21 ounces of gold per ton) (Reed, 1938, p. 12).
