Location: Left Fork Dome Creek is a north tributary to Dome Creek (SO113). It is not labeled on the Soloman D-6 topographic map. The mouth of Left Fork is 1.3 miles upstream from the confluence of Canyon and Dome Creek. This is locality 37 of Cobb (1972, MF 445; 1978, OF 78-181).
Geology: Most of the lower parts of Left Fork Dome Creek were placer mined during the first few years of mining in the area. Production was estimated to be about $20,000 or almost 1,000 ounces of gold by 1908 (Smith, 1909). Surface water was lost to underground channels (karst ?) in the marble of bedrock. Bedrock rock is part of a lower Paleozoic metasedimentary assemblage (Till and others, 1986).
Workings: Extensive, small-scale placer mining was carried out on this creek by 1908.
