Location: The French Gulch placer gold prospect is along French Gulch about 0.5 mile from its junction with Healy Creek. The map site is in sec. 17, T. 12 S., R. 6 W., of the Fairbanks Meridian. This is location 64 of Clark and Cobb (1972).
Geology: French Gulch drains the Tertiary Nenana Gravel, which locally contains gold paleoplacers. The source of the placer gold in French Gulch probably results from reworking the Nenana Gravel.
Workings: Surface only.
Age: Quaternary.
Production: One of the limiting factors for mining here was the lack of water.
