Location: This placer occurrence is at an elevation of about 2,400 feet along about a mile of Deadman Creek. It is about 6 1/2 miles upstream from its mouth on the Susitna River, in the NW1/4 sec. 2, T. 32 N., R. 5 E., Seward Meridian. The location is accurate. This is locality D8 of Kurtak and others (1991).
Geology: The rocks in the vicinity of this placer occurrence are schist, migmatite, and granite and Upper Paleocene biotite granodiorite (Csejtey and others, 1978). Placer samples collected by the U.S. Bureau of Mines contain up to 400 parts per billion gold (Kurtak and others, 1992).
