A lost locality, described in Horace Stevens' 1911 volume X of "A Manual of the Copper Industry of the World" as being "1 mile north of Bad River". There is no town or township of Bad River. The Bad River flows for a number of miles through rocks of Archean and Proterozoic age. Stevens describes a series of 3 deposits, one of which being worked by several shafts. They are said to be "fissure veins in greenstone, diorite and slate". There was reportedly an extensive gossan. This could be mineralization related to an earlier Proterozoic massive sulfide mineralization.
Cox et al. describes the Holmes prospect as occupying the southwestern corner of Section 34, Town 45, Range 2 west. The site is privately owned.
