Highly titaniferous magnetite bodies, hosted in gabbro, mined from 3 pits on a small island in Newboro Lake, 2km SW of the village of Newboro, 1 km SSE of the Matthews Mine. Several thousand tons were extracted between 1858 and 1871. Workings consist of 3 large pits, 150 x 50 ft and 1 small pit.
