Produces quartzite for use as construction materials. Production rate was approx 500,000-1,000,000 tonnes per year (2008). Production for the period 1977-2009 was estimated at 7.5 million tonnes.
Although never officially named so, it is known by locals as 'Black Hill Quarry', or 'Para Hills Quarry'.

This site is still an active, working quarry, and all access is prohibited.
