A manganese-iron mine located on the North bank of the Potomac River, about 3 miles North of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Started 1876. Reopened 1908 (then owned by Potomac Refining Co.). Ore is at a fault contact of Bolivar Heights Member of the Tomstown Formation (carbonates) & Antietam Formation (silty clastics). Workings included an old shaft to 23 feet (7 meters) deep & a new shaft to 60 feet (20 meters) deep.
