Merionethshire
Primarily a lead mine although sphalerite and some copper ore was known to occur. The principal gangue mineral was quartz, although calcite was fairly common.
An old mine, said to have been worked in 1577 and in the 1680s, it was then worked at various times between 1849-75 when 355 of lead ore concentrates is recorded. In 1874 150 ounces of silver were recovered from 150 tons of lead ore.
Although reopened about 1916-17 by the Union Zinc Company Ltd. and a new mill erected (SH 624412), the mine did not survive the 1921 slump in metal prices in 1921 and has remained inactive since.
