The Rose Creek Mine was a commercial production mine near the town of Herod in T. 12 S., R. 9. E, sec. 11, SW ¼, NE ¼, SW ¼. The operators of the Rose Creek Mine was the Yingling Mining Company which also included two shafts: The Conley and the Smee (Weller et al. 1952) and later the Knox and Yingling shafts (Baxter et al. 1967). The principal depth of the shaft was 70 feet.
Weller et al. (1952) reported that the average depth of the vein here was approximately 4 feet and the strike of the Rose Creek Fault was N55°W with a dip of 80°SW. Moderate sphalerite and galena was also encountered at the site.
