The J. Oxford prospect, near the town of Cadiz, was one of the earliest documented localities to mine vein fluorite in the Goose Creek District. It was operated by three individuals with surnames "Rigsby, Martin, and Frailey" (Weller et al., 1952).
Weller et al. (1952) reported that the prospect contained thin veinlets of fluorspar that were exposed from nearby Goose Creek. Churn drilling was done nearby to process the ore. The strike and dip were measured to be N 55° E, NW. Minor galena was also found at the deposit (Weller et al., 1952).
The prospect was not reported by Baxter et al. (1963), so it is possible that it was abandoned, or production was very minor, at that time.
