"Spectacular crystals of vivianite were found in 1860, during excavations for a water race on the Buckland River, at Porepunkah, in north-eastern Victoria. A mining surveyor, reported that he had forwarded to the National Museum some specimens, which he referred to as green mica, obtained at a depth of 3 feet in bedrock of a tail race. The largest crystal was 4 cm long and 2 cm thick. The vivianite occurs with siderite in soft yellow sandstone of Ordivician age."
