Mined since the middle of 19th century sporadically. The magnetite ore is rich in Mn which is shown by the analysis made during WWII on the production; 30-36 %Fe and 10-13% Mn.
The area is still of interest to mining companies- LKAB made exploration in the -80ies and another company made core drilling in 2007.
