Formerly: Belmina mine, Coleraine Township, Mégantic Co., Québec, Canada

A large inactive chrysotile mine operated from 1890 to the 1950s, located at 45°58'40"N 71°27'21"W (coordinates extrapolated from topographic map).

The mine was discovered in 1876-1881 by John Bell. A company was formed in 1880 for the extraction of asbestos. There was an excavation of 7 m and a tunnel of unknown depth. A small rail-road to take out the ore was still visible.
When a rail-road was constructed past Thetford Mines, Mr Bell reinvested in the Bell Mine in Thetford Mines.

Comment — lithology: The host rock of the mineralization is an Ordovician-age dunite hosted by typical to orthopyroxene-enriched harzburgites.

Comment — mineralization: The dunite contains disseminated or sub-massive banded chromite.
