Basanite - Cenozoic Central European Volcanic Province.
Quarry in solid basalt type rock forming volcanic neck with big amount of pyroclastic, volcanic tuff. Before the beginning of rocks exploitation, cone shaped hill with pastures of xerothermic grasslands (rare flora, including european orchids).
Scarce mafic to ultramafic enclaves (lherzolite, websterite, clinopyroxenite, gabbro, harzburgite 1 – 5 cm and Plagioclase euhedral megacrysts up to 10 cm.
Plagioclase megacrysts are euhedral to subhedral and contain from 14 to 28 % of anorthite. The An content is constant within single crystal, whereas the Or content varies from 7 to 21 %. Small spinel – pyroxene – plagioclase intergrowths occur in marginal parts of the megacrysts. Spinel and pyroxene form minor, dot–like crystals of size up to few µm. Spinel has the composition of ülvospinel and pyroxene is Ti, Al- diopside. Plagioclase composition in the intergrowths varies in wide range (from 15 to 68 % of An).
Subhedral crystals of spinel of composition close to
Fe3+0.36 Fe2+1.72 Ti0.57 Mg0.18 Al0.11 Mn0.02 Cr0.01 O4
and ilmenite (typically Fe0.81 Ti0.91 Mg0.18 Mn0.02 Al0.04 O3) up to 25µm in size are opaques.

Geochronology
Mineralization age: Miocene : 21.96 ± 1.36 Ma to 21.61 ± 0.93 MaImportant note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
