Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley: 12, 66; NJ State Geol. Annual Rpt. (1880): 121. An iron and ochre mine in limonite ore. Operated between 1856 and 1869, 1876 and 1879-1880; thereafter (1880), it was operated for yellow ochre since the iron ore was essentially exhausted. Located about 2 miles East of Phillipsburg near Lopatcong Creek. Produced a total of about 1,000 tons ore. Working was a pit 200 feet by 100 feet in blue (Kittatinny) limestone.
