Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley: 11, 295; NJ State Geol. Annual Rpts.: (1879): 63-64; (1880): 109; (1883): 123; (1884): 94; (1885): 104; (1886): 152. An iron mine in magnetite ore located on the North slope of Musconetcong Mtn SW of West Portal (WEst End). Started 1872 and closed July, 1884. Reopened 1885 and closed about 1886. Ore vein was 4,450 feet (1,470 meters) long. Workings featured a 130 foot deep shaft (1872) and a 290 foot deep shaft (1885).
