Contemporary specimens from Cystanog Mine are often simpley labeled as being from the "Vale of Towy", which is the general mining area and includes a number of mines. Although there is a "Vale of Towy Mine", this is 1/2 mile to the west of "Cystanog Mine".
Cystanog has been reworked on a number of occasions. Recorded working starts about 1852, and continued intermittently until at least 1908.
Recorded output is 2700 tons of lead ore. The mine also produced some baryte.
