An exploration project located near Phoenix, the Vaughnsville Exploration was a small operation located on the homestead of Mr. Joel Vaughn. In 1855, he opened up a small fissure on his property which was said to be rich in copper and silver. Cliff Mining Company offered to buy his property, but was refused. In 1864, the property was sold to the Atlas Mining Company. Copper and prehnite can be found on the small piles.
