An iron mine in magnetite ore located about 2 miles North of Rockaway. Started 1785, restarted about 1833 & closed the same year. Reopened 1853 and then briefly in 1880 and 1885. Ore body was 3½ feet (about 1 meter) thick. Workings were 50 feet & 190 feet deep by 1855.
