Mina Aurum
Quartz-andesites and sub-volcanic bodies. Strongest gold impregnation in the rocks, with a breccia texture. Carbonate gangue minerals.
Old open cast or surface mining started in the 18th century.
In the 19th century started the underground mining by excavating a vertical passageway and many large open holes. Now closed mine.
Note: "Aurul" is the common name of the former "Aurul" Mining Company, Remin S.A., Baia Mare.
