Yacimiento de Puente Tablas ( Cerro Moreno) - Mina Minerama, Jaén (término municipal)


The site of Celestine of "Puente Tablas" is located in the the hill called "Cerro Moreno" close to the urbanization that gives the name (Puente Tablas) located in the municipality of Jaen.

This is a small mining work for the exploitation of Strontium of sedimentary origin and diagenetic processes related.

Two phases of mineralization are distinguished.

-Primary-phase. The Celestine comes in the form of nodules in Keuper facies materials (clays sandstones and gypsum) formed by large prismatic crystals.
-Second phase. formed by processes of remobilization of the primary phase form fills in small cracks and zones of brecciation and is included in levels of Dolomites belonging to lower Liassic formed in some cases botryoidal concretions of Celestine very curious also as precious druses of crystals that have made famous this site.
