A silver-lead mine worked until 1850 and intermittently to 1898.
There were numerous shafts: O.G. Main Shaft (260ft); Victoria Shaft (310 ft); Gore's Shaft (178ft); Verco Shaft 1 (202 ft); Verco Shaft 2 (100ft); Clive's Shaft (108ft); Marshall's Shaft (192ft) and Woodley Shaft.
Initially worked by the Glen Osmond Union Mining Co from 1846 and was abandoned in 1878 as the land owner demanded an excessively high royalty.
Mining ceased altogether around 1898.
The mine area is now reclaimed and built over.
