The Slaughter Yard Gold Mine is 60 kilometres north-west of Leonora, and 12 kilometres north of Bannockburn. It is a small abandoned pit, which is not well preserved. It can be accessed by continuing north along the track past the North Well Gold Mine.
The deposit is deeply weathered with fine grained pale coloured phyllite and schist. The north north-west trending, steep east dipping foliation, is overprinted by conjugate brittle faults with local vein infill.
