A former Cu-Au-Ag mine located in sec. 34, T2N, R12E, MDM (see note below), in Copperopolis. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10284343 presents grographic coordinates of 120.69631W, 37.99911N. These coordinates place the mine in sec. 30, T2N, R12E, MDM, at a spot without mine symbols or names on the topo map. MRDS file #10163126 presents coordinates of 120.64241W, 37.98021N, which place it in Copperopolis in sec. 32, T2N, R12E, MDM, directly on the named mine designation for this locality (Empire Mine) in sec. 32, T2N, R12E, MDM; however, this latter file also states that it is located in sec. 30, T2N, R12E, MDM. It is apparent that the coordinates presented in file #10284343 are in error and that the T&R values presented in both files are in error.
Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
