Mining started at the site with the development of an open pit late 2015 by Excelsior Gold Limited. Indicated JORC resources are 89 000 tonnes of ore at 2.73 g/t yielding 7800 ounces of gold, and Inferred resources 76 000 tonnes of ore at 2.76 g/t yielding 6700 ounces.
Along with the Castlereagh pit, they are the first of several pits the company plans to develop in the area over the coming years. Ore is being processed at Norton Goldfield's Paddington mill, south of Broad Arrow.
At Jackorite, gold is associated for a 200 metre strike, with a sigmoidal north-south trending shear, moderately to steeply west dipping. High grade gold is associated with flattening of the shear with a north-west trending structure.
