An aluminum mine with bauxite ore. Owned by Alcoa of Australia (51%) and local interests (49%).

Former bauxite mine operated by Alcoa, near Dwellingup. It is named after two roads in the area, and was opened in 1972 as Alcoa's second bauxite mine after the one at Jarrahdale. In its twenty years of operation, it produced 54 500 tonnes of bauxite.

In 1957, exploratory pits were dug at Plavins and Coach Road both east of Dwellingup, and Cobiac east of Jarrahdale. These tests proved an extensive and economical mineable bauxite resource, and a new company was formed called Alcoa. The first mine opened at Jarrahdale in 1963, sending ore by rail to the Kwinana Refinery.

Most Australian bauxite is lateritic, formed by intense weathering of various rock formations. The alumina in lateritic bauxite is mainly in the form of gibbsite, as aluminium oxide trihydrate.

Alcoa has refineries at Kwinana, Pinjarra and Worsley, and mines at Huntly and Willowdale. A separate company mines bauxite near Boddington, which is transported by converyor to its Worsley Refinery near Collie.

The region produces 16% of world demand for bauxite. Australia has huge reserves of bauxite which is mined at Weipa in northern Queensland and Gove in the Northern Territory. The Mitchell Pateau deposit in the Kimberley, Western Australia is un-developed. The mines produce no specimens.
