A former Cu-Au-Ag mine located in sec. 34, T26N, R11E, MDM, 3.4 km (2.1 miles) NNE of Genesee, along Hosselkus Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Active in 1860's and in 1928.
Mineralization is a replacement deposit hosted in diorite and limestone. The ore body is lenticular, striking Nw and dipping 70E. It is 60.96 meters wide. Malachite and azurite occur near surface and bornite occurs as solid bodies. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 5 (Northern Sierra Nevada and Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings. Several tunnels of which the main one is 500 feet long with a number iof drifts on stringers. It developed a 5 foot vein of Au ore assaying $3.40 per ton (period values). This vein is said to intersect a Cu vein within 100 feet at a depth of 240 feet. Some ore was stoped in the upper workings. The lower tunnel is 270 feet long in granodiorite. The upper tunnel is 60 feet long and exposes 14 feet of chalcopyrite. The middle tunnel is 120 feet long and shows 17 feet of ore averaging 6% Cu.
