Brammallite, recorded as a new mineral in 1943, is named after Dr Alfred Brammall, formerly of the Department of Geology at Imperial College of Science & Technology, London. Although the type locality is at Llandebie (Llandybie), the exact location is not recorded (but was most likely from the opencast coal mines here. The grid reference given is for the village of Llandebie itself.
At Llandebie, brammallite occurs as compact, white, flaky tufts, reminiscent of satin spar, formed by aggregates of elongated plates about 0.5 mm in length and 0.001 mm across, on shale.
