Dirk Arthur Kempthorne (October 29, 1951 April 24, 2026)[1] was the United States Secretary of the Interior. Kempthorne was the 30th Governor of Idaho. He was a member of the U.S. Republican Party.[1] Kempthorne was born in San Diego, California.

Kempthorne graduated from the University of Idaho. He was married to Patricia Kempthorne. They had two children.

In March 2025, Kempthorne was diagnosed with colon cancer and began chemotherapy treatment.[2] He died in Boise, Idaho on April 24, 2026 at the age of 74.[3]
