Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis[1] is the name of a medical test. It is often performed when screening babies.

The test consist of taking a little amniotic fluid and testing it. Fluid which contains tissue of the embryo or fetus allows the specialist doctor (such as radiologist or obstetrician) to determine the sex of the baby. The test is also used to find birth defects.
