Episode 6: The Night Festival and the Shadow Monster
That night, the village bustled with a grand festival.
Stalls lined the square, lanterns swayed and glowed, and the lively sounds of flutes and drums filled the air.
Nyari walked along with the children, carrying a broom, her heart pounding with excitement.
“This is the most fun I've ever had!”
“Hey, Nyari, try some roasted corn!”
The square overflowed with smiles—
But then, a cold wind swept in from beyond the sky.
One by one, the lantern lights began to fade.
“Wh-what is that...?”
In the corner of the square, a black shadow slowly materialized.
It seemed human-shaped, yet flickered like smoke, its eyes alone glowing red.
“Scary...!”
The children hid behind Nyari.
Nyari's ears pricked up, and her hand gripping the broom trembled.
This wasn't just a simple mishap.
It was a monster of “Anxiety,” trying to swallow everyone's smiles.
“We... we should run...”
A timid voice whispered.
But the trembling presence of the children behind her pressed hard against Nyari's chest.
“I... I want to protect them too!”
Nyari raised her broom high.
“Dreams and appetite, shine upon everyone!”
Sparkling magical light spread out, reviving the villagers' laughter and singing.
As if pushed back by that brightness, the black shadow faded away with a “shhhhh” sound.
“We did it...! Their smiles made the shadows vanish.”
Though Nyarie collapsed, a warm feeling spread deep within her heart.
It's okay to be scared. It's okay to feel weak.
But if you have the desire to protect, magic becomes light.
Lantern lights reappeared in the festival night sky, laughter returned.
And Nyarie found she could walk with her chest just a little bit more lifted.

第6話 夜のお祭りと影の怪物
その夜、村は大きなお祭りでにぎわっていました。
広場には屋台がならび、ランタンがゆらゆらと灯り、笛や太鼓の音がにぎやかにひびいています。
二ャリーも子どもたちと一緒にホウキをかついで歩き、胸をわくわくさせていました。
「こんなに楽しいのはじめてだ！」
「ほら、二ャリーも焼きトウモロコシ食べてみなよ！」
笑顔があふれる広場――。
ところがその時、空の向こうから冷たい風が吹きぬけました。
ランタンの灯りが一つ、二つと消えていきます。
「な、なんだろう……？」
広場の隅に、黒い影がじわりと現れました。
人の形のようでいて、けむりのように揺らめき、目だけが赤く光っています。
「こわい……！」
子どもたちは二ャリーの後ろに隠れました。
二ャリーの耳もぴんと立ち、ホウキをにぎる手がふるえました。
――これは、ただの失敗ではない。
人々の笑顔を飲みこもうとする「不安」の化け物。
「に、にげたほうが……」
弱気な心がささやきます。
けれど、背中で震える子どもたちの気配が、二ャリーの胸をぐっと押しました。
「ぼ、ぼくだって……守りたいんだ！」
二ャリーはホウキを高くふり上げました。
「夢と食欲よ、みんなを照らせ！」
キラキラとした魔法の光が広がり、村人たちの笑い声や歌声をよみがえらせました。
その明るさに押されるように、黒い影は「シューッ」と音を立てて薄れていきます。
「やった……！ みんなの笑顔で影が消えたんだ」
二ャリーはへたり込みながらも、心の奥にじんわり熱いものを感じていました。
怖がってもいい。弱気でもいい。
それでも「守りたい」という気持ちがあれば、魔法は光になる。
祭りの夜空に、ランタンの灯りが再びともり、笑い声が戻ってきました。
そして二ャリーは、ほんの少しだけ胸をはって歩けるようになったのです。
