Wikipedia:Beware the category people!
This is a humorous essay. It contains humorous advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors and isn't meant to be taken seriously. This is not an encyclopedia article or one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines and may not represent community consensus. |

If you keep up with new drafts, you may encounter a link to a nonexistent page that seems to be about category people. Drafters who link to that page have yet to tell us what a category person is, or why they like to link to that page. Most "category people" may simply be living people whose drafts are thus subject to WP:BLP, or simply WP. Some so-called category people may also be associated with companies. (e.g. Wikipedia people)
To be clear, this essay isn't talking about Wikipedians who are all about categories; creating new categories or adding articles to categories, nor is this about cat people. This concerns a hypothetical class of people inadvertently implied by links that appear at the bottom of some biographical drafts. The presence of such links may increase a draft's odds of being given the AI mark of shame and potentially tagged for speedy deletion under criterion G15.
Possible meanings
[edit]Category people could only be a real Wikipedia category if Category is a company that some notable people are involved with, just like how Wikipedia people are involved with Wikipedia. Some people might also volunteer for the Category Corps, which is an agency or organization of some kind that isn't known to exist in our world.
If we're talking about, say, Category historians, Category could instead be a demonym. However, no existing country or region has its people or things referred to as Category. Even if there was a place named Categor, its people would be called Categorians, Categorese or Categorii, so an article about an artist from Categor might belong under Category:Categorian artists. The same could be said for people from Categoria, which could just as well be the Latinized name of Categor. Likewise, people from Categore would be called Categoreans.
Alternatively, a category painter could be someone who paints categories, whereas a Category War historian could be someone who studies the Category War, which isn't the name of any war that had been fought on our world.
