Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Currently I’m living my dream of giving a voice to those in Northern Nevada to fight back against government abuse and helping educate people on their rights. Sharing what's really happening on the world stage on The Monica Jaye Show streaming live 10 to noon Monday - Friday. My greatest journey is protecting Nevadan’s rights by running for the Nevada State Senate District 16.

After years in the Healthcare Industry I was not challenged or fulfilled so I changed my path. I found my passion in communications and the Radio. After more than 30 years in the industry I still like to grow and expand. I've worked in most genres of music radio but my real love is conservative talk. People connecting through ideas and opinions.

I'm the 1st VP of the Mount Rose Republicans Women’s Club and a former President of Shakespeare Animal Fund. For years I’ve MC’d many Galas, Fundraisers and Government events. I'm an Ordained Minister and my husband and I are both inductees of The Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In the past I was acknowledged as one of the Top Ten Most Influential Women in Nevada by Northern Nevada Business Weekly.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Election integrity is a must and I will make sure every legal vote is counted. Voter I.D. is the way forward.
Small business is the heart of our economy and we have to protect it. We need fewer regulations and more access to support for entrepreneurs.
Illegal immigration must be stopped. No more doing more for those in this country illegally. Drivers and occupational licenses need to be rescinded.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Getting the homeless community the mental health and drug treatment services that are so badly needed. Also making sure laws are enforced and criminals are punished.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

The greatest influence in my life is my mother. She raised me to stand up for my beliefs and not be afraid to speak up when people tried to suppress my opinions. More importantly to speak out for those who felt they had no voice.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

The Constitution, The bill of rights, The Federalist Papers, The naked communist, 1984, Animal Farm, Restoring American Freedoms.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity and honesty.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I listen to what people are truly concerned about and care about them.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To represent the people who elected them and not those represented by the lobbyists.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I want people to remember me as the one who actually represented them and made their lives better.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job was running parts for my families automotive business when I was 14 until I was 19. It taught me responsibility and the importance of small business.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Bible. The lessons are forever.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Wonder Woman. She's my husbands favorite and she can get people to tell the truth with her Golden Lasso.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Same everyday struggles as everyone else. Keeping your head above water while the government keeps taking more.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

The Governor is just the figure head of the state. It is the Legislature that sets the rules in place.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Rebuilding the economy and making sure the government never over steps its bounds again. Our rights do not pause because someone feels it's in the publics best interest.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a unicameral state legislature, in your opinion?

We have a bicameral legislature. There has to be checks and balances with numerous views to come up to the best solutions for state.
It also allows more opportunities for the people to participate in their government. It may not be the most efficient form of passing legislation but it ensures the right legislation is passed.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

According to our founding fathers it's supposed to be a government of we the people. Career politicians need to be stopped. More people need to be involved in the running of this country which would be a lot easier if it were brought down to the size originally intended. Downsize the Federal Government and give the responsibilities back to the states.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

When you build relationships it's always a good thing. People only learn and grow when they can have intelligent, meaningful conversations to get to the heart of problems. Solutions do not happen when you cut others out of the decision making process.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

It should be done by the number of people in the district with easily drawn and distinguishable lines. Straight forward and easy to follow.

If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

The Finance Committee. Budgets need to be managed better and need to be cut. Taxpayers are paying to much and we need to be more respectful of their money.
The Education Committee. It's time to stand up and so no to the unions. We're 50th in the nation and spend as much as Florida which is 4th. Money is not the problem! It's how it's spent.

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Annie Black and Jill Dickman.

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

Not particularly. That would be up to the public.

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Being in the media for so long it's impossible to come up with one story. The most impactful are always the ones of DETR not paying claims and small businesses being shut down because of a pandemic that did not exist.

Tell us your favorite joke.

How can you tell a politician is lying ?
Their lips are moving.

Should the legislature oversee or grant the use of emergency powers?

Absolutely! They should also be for a limited time.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

There will always be comprises in life but not when it comes to our rights and the future of this country.
