I’m an MIT Alum and served on the board of the MIT Enterprise Forum, MIT Club of Northern New Jersey and as Chair, MIT Sloan Club of NY. I’ve often judged student projects at NJ Science Fairs, Business Plans of Rutgers MBA students and national and African entrepreneur competitions, and originated idea for a running Female Founders competition. I love theater and have co-produced four musicals as Asparagus Entertainment. I’ve also run 4 NYC marathons. This is my first time running for political office. I’ve lived with my wife in Essex County for 35 years, the last 5 in West Orange.
My purpose in running for Congress is to fight for the soul of America. To fight for America and the working and middle class. I have no political boss. I’m here to champion you.
Every single day I'll strive to support your kitchen-table needs and those of your family. As your Congressman and from my bully pulpit I will fight tirelessly to restore your American Dream, defend democracy, defend your safety, promote growth, preserve the environment and, more than anything, work without end to assure that America succeeds and that America will be a far better place for your children and grandchildren.
We are the backbone of America. It is time for a re-balancing of our economy. It is time for a new ‘New Deal’ in America.
It is time to restore our American Dream.- Affordability
To make America more affordable, I'd free cash for other needs by: 1) Enacting free or nearly free universal childcare & pass single-payer Medicare for All (age 55+), restoring Obamacare for everyone else 2) Forgiving most student loans 3) Funding Social Security & Medicare/Medicaid to assure survival of each for next 3 generations of Americans 4) Increasing Social Security benefits/ abolishing US tax on Social Security 5) Passing sweeping housing bill for everyone modeled on GI home-ownership bill passed just after WW II.
To grow economy, I'd strive to pass bills to stimulate jobs, jobs, jobs especially in electro-tech & 15+ frontier industries + pass major GI-type bill for re-training and education. - Democracy November Elections: Actively defend all voting rights on books + protect ballot boxes everywhere, especially in cities/urban areas where ballot box access is targeted and vulnerable to MAGA. Vote counting most formidable problem we face in Nov. No more Bush v. Gore debacles! Vigorously protect mail-In voting. No ICE or feds at polling places. Once we win in November, undo Citizen's United. Voter ID must also end as an issue. Establish Real ID with added protections as Voter ID gold standard (only to take effect when 95%+ of registered citizens have Real ID). Eliminate plague of gerrymandering forever. Pass radical idea I have for bold, immutable anti-gerrymandering law that forever takes CD decision-making from politicians.
- Fairness, Immigration & Rights 1) Protect + defend human, civil, women’s, gender, worker’s and children’s rights 2) Re-balance American economy. Rescind Trump's "beautiful" tax give-away to rich. Pass broadly progressive tax bill with far greater minimum taxes for high earners & corporations. No more than 5% federal tax rate for those below twice poverty line 3) Close tax policies + loopholes that disfavor working & middle class. Rewrite taxes to treat wage/salary & investment income equally 4) Enact new, higher minimum wage law that reflects significant regional cost-of-living differences 5) Restore legal immigration in America to reflect US need for growth and preserve America's historic values. Provide path to citizenship for Dreamers
The middle class is the backbone of America. Many of us are immigrants or sons and daughters of immigrants. We've built America into greatest country the world has ever known. But our share of the economy has been in steady decline for 50 years. It's time to reclaim our place. We can re-establish fairness in taxes, fund urgent social programs, but we also need to keep US secure, maintain our leadership in world, achieve sustainability, grow economy and avoid recession. All will be lost if we don't. One example: if world ever pivots from US dollar as world's reserve currency, we're sunk. But without bringing back Middle Class, can America as we know it survive?
The United States is becoming more and more polarized.
One policy idea I have to move America back to the center is to enact a radical new anti-gerrymandering Federal Legislation to outlaw gerrymandering:
Between nationwide censuses every 10 years, make unlawful more than a single modification of Congressional Districts. Require all CD’s of every state be drawn with boundaries that both a) provide for equal population as mandated by constitution and b) span boundaries across the entire east-west breadth of every state at mandated latitude of such boundaries. Allow by law that such East-West boundaries may be drawn from North to South or South to North, but require no more than 1/2 mile variance on either side as the Legislature of each such state may provide.
2. Restoring democracy in America.
3. Restoring fairness in America. Restoring human rights.
4. Restoring sanity to immigration and security. Returning to American values.
5. Leading the world to peace and prosperity.
6. Restoring American leadership in world, projecting strength, equity and moral authority. Preserving U.S. dollar as reserve currency of world. Once more making U.S. the world's indispensable leader
7. Steer America and world to environmental sustainability
8. Supporting AI innovation, avoiding dystopian AI future.
