I was inspired to run for office because in 2025, shortly after it was released, I sent a letter to my state and Federal legislators to warn them about Project 2025. The incumbent in this office replied with a letter, and said there were some parts of Project 2025 he objected to. I was horrified! A "Democrat" who objects to SOME parts of a literal blueprint for fascist overthrow of the government?? I have been repulsed by the number of people in high government positions with no qualifications to be there, no concept of the responsibilities of national security, and blatant massive conflicts of interest.
All of this has inspired me to run for this office. I have no wealth, no PAC funds, no following, no staff. But I have to try.- We need Representatives with a strong science background to keep from being at the mercy of legislation written only to serve special interest groups. I have earned three engineering degrees (BS, MS, Ph.D.), applied them in the defense and aviation industries, and taught computing (IT, IS) for twenty years. I was a Quality Manager for large Army project and taught project management. I am also a Registered Nurse. Nobody in Congress has my level of education and experience in science, engineering, and healthcare.
- I have a clear vision of the changes I want to bring about. We need to restore legal principles, including separation of powers, separation of church and state, innocent until proven guilty, and due process. We must affirm LGBT rights, support racial and ethnic equality, universal healthcare, and the fundamental right to adequate food, water, and shelter. I studied political science and other social sciences, and used that to write Idiot-Proofing Democracy, a book which builds on the Constitution to improve on the excellent foundation from our Founding Fathers. I drew inspiration from other recent Constitutions and the UN Human Rights statement.
- We must restore trust in the government, both here and with our allies. We need to protect our government from systemic corruption by eliminating PACs, mandatory financial disclosure for high level government positions, and earned security clearances for legislative and executive branch leaders. No corporate personhood (Citizen's United), no Electoral College. We need to add term limits for Congress and the Supreme Courts to eliminate lifetime positions. We need to screen then welcome immigrants and provide clear paths for residency and citizenship.
