Helene Neville earned a high school diploma from Burlington High School and an associate degree from Iowa Western Community College in 1984. Neville's career experience includes working as a nurse.^[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Helene Neville, a nurse, public health professional, cancer survivor, author, entrepreneur, and internationally recognized endurance athlete, officially announced her candidacy for North Dakota's seat in the United States House of Representatives.

Rather than launching her campaign from a stage or a television studio, Neville will take her message directly to the public, where leadership begins by showing up. Beginning June 10, she will embark on the first of many grassroots journeys throughout the state, meeting residents face-to-face, listening to their concerns, gathering signatures, and building a people-powered campaign grounded in service, accountability, and trust. "You won't miss me," Neville said. "I'll be the nurse wearing the same red, white, and blue running suit I wore while running more than 16,600 miles across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, and on various fundraising runs, carrying a flag as I travel from community to community in North Dakota." Neville's campaign will operate as a grassroots movement with limited fundraising, a commitment to independence, and an emphasis on direct voter engagement while meeting people where they live, listening to their stories, and building connections among communities.

She has pledged to cap campaign fundraising at $30,000 and will not accept PAC contributions, relying instead on small-dollar donations.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I want voters to remember three things about me. First, I am a servant leader. For more than 42 years, I have cared for people as a nurse in hospitals, clinics, rural communities, tribal health systems, correctional facilities, and public health programs. I have spent my career helping people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Leadership begins by showing up, listening, and serving.
Second, I understand perseverance. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage IV lymphoma and given only weeks to live. Through faith, determination, excellent medical care, and the support of many people, I survived. That experience reinforced my belief that every life has value and that hope should never be underestimated.
Third, I am running as an Independent because I believe North Dakota deserves independent thinking and practical problem-solving. I am not campaigning from a television studio or relying on political insiders. I am traveling to every incorporated community in North Dakota—more than 355 towns and cities—to meet people face-to-face, hear their concerns, and earn their trust one conversation at a time.
