Barbie Harden Hall was born in Eustis, Florida. She attended Harding University and Troy University. She earned an associate degree from Valencia College in 2009. Her career experience includes working as a small business owner.^[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

The people deserve representation that will work for the needs of middle and working class Americans. Instead of playing for political wins and losses, I want to ensure that every day American have a voice in Congress that will work towards solutions that are right for them, and not an individual or company's profits. Representation in District 11 is out of touch with the needs of the people and not willing to put in the work to address them. I am a mother and small business owner, without a trust fund or stock portfolio, who believes it is time for people to serve that just want what is best for our community, and not a political scorecard.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Addressing the unaffordability crisis that is affecting Floridians, especially those in District 11.
Protecting Social Security and Medicare, while addressing funding issues by making the ultra-wealthy and billionaires pay their fair share of taxes.
Restoring protection for a women's reproductive and healthcare decisions.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Women's rights in healthcare decisions

Affordable healthcare that puts people over profits
Protecting Social Security and Medicare
Gun responsibility measures
Equal consideration for all groups under the law
Fixing the budget deficit and addressing federal debt
Ensuring that environmental issues are addressed

Securing American infrastructure and cyber security

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

My grandfather who passed away in 2018. He grew up in Lower Alabama on a farm with not much money. He wanted to have a more comfortable life so he left home and became a funeral director after the Korean War. He spent his life helping others as much as possible with the resources his job gave him.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Putting the needs of the people and principles over political or self-benefit

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

The ability to respect and listen to your constituents, even when you disagree on an issue.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Respecting the constituents, whether you agree with their position or not.

Considering what is best for the district and the nation when making decisions.
Putting the needs of the greatest common good over the political needs and desires of the politician.

Remaining honest and transparent to the people.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

1992 Presidential election, I was 6

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

A cashier at Publix for the summer after I turned 16

What is your favorite book? Why?

Far too many to name. Books and reading are one of my passions, and an item I have spent far too much money on.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Several songs from "Hamilton"

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

I do not believe previous experience in government or politics is ESSENTIAL for representatives, although it can provide benefits. Our country must have representation that reflects the people. Although I do not have previous experience, I do have the knowledge to hold the position.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

The greatest challenge to the United States is the political divide that has been created and that continues to grow. Our greatest enemy is ourselves and our chaotic Congress has had a negative impact on our international standing. Instead of working on compromise and addressing what is desperately needed in our country, we have become too focused on political wins and losses. We must return to finding common ground and working towards protecting the democratic foundations of our country. If we fail to address the chaos in Congress, we will only continue to weaken our ability to adequately respond to domestic and foreign situations.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

I do not oppose term limits. I do believe there are advantages to long serving legislators, especially the specialization and experience that they can bring; however, I do believe that we have seen politicians taking advantage of there not being established term limits, and continuing to serve when they are not doing the work they have been elected to perform and becoming out of touch with the needs of the people.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Yes, I believe that finding common ground between parties and compromise are essential for our nation. It is how the Founders created our government and how we can address the needs of the people over partisan differences.

What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?

As all elected officials are representatives of the people, they should be transparent and accountable for all decisions.
