I am Dr. Yu-Chen Huang, also known as Anne, a female gemologist and mineral researcher with nearly a decade of professional experience in the mineral and gemstone field. As my Chinese name is sometimes mistaken for a male name, I often use Anne as my English name.

I currently work at a mineral and gemstone laboratory, where I am engaged in mineral and gemstone identification, analytical testing, and scientific research. My work includes both laboratory-based analysis and on-site examination at mineral and gem exhibitions.

I regularly use analytical techniques including Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). I am also frequently invited to provide on-site mineral and gemstone identification services at major exhibitions across Europe, mainland China, Taiwan, and Japan, where I conduct professional examinations and issue formal identification certificates.

I hold a doctoral degree and am a Graduate Gemologist (GG) from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). I am also a GIA-trained Pearl Grader, an HRD Antwerp-certified Diamond Grader, and an HRD Advanced Diamond Jewellery Designer. In addition, I have received advanced training from GIA researchers in colored gemstone origin determination methodologies.

In addition to identification and research, I am deeply engaged in mineral and gemstone photography, with an emphasis on accurate scientific documentation and artistic expression. I believe that science and art should coexist, and that high-quality visual documentation plays an important role in mineralogical research, education, and communication.

Among gemstone minerals, I have a particular appreciation for pink to purple vesuvianite, whose color variations and crystal forms beautifully reflect the harmony between crystal chemistry, structure, and natural aesthetics.
