About Chrome-Vesuvianite

A vesuvianite with chromium replacing some of the aluminium in its chemical composition. Most chrome-vesuvianites have Cr₂O₃ contents below 1 wt%, but on a few occasions, much higher contents were determined. The chrome-vesuvianites found as inclusions in diopside in rodingite veins cutting serpentinites in a chromium deposit in Xinjiang, China, have Cr₂O₃ contents up to 6.21 wt% and contain up to 7.43 wt% of TiO₂ at the same time (Kobayashi and Kaneda, 2010). These are the highest Cr and Ti contents ever reported in vesuvianites.
