Name:
Described as a new mineral by Ellsworth (1927). Named after the locality of Lyndoch Township, Ontario, Canada. The mineral was found at a pegmatite on Lot 23, Concession XV, Lyndoch Township. This locality is today most probably the one that is called the Beryl Pit (also named Quadeville Beryl Mine and McCoy Mine).
The mineral was first recognized by Miller (1898) as a columbite group mineral. Ercit (2002) reinvestigated the type material and found that it is euxenite-(Y).
