Name:
Named by Ferruccio Zambonini (1910), who considered the mineral as a member of the "davyne-microsommite series". Zambonini observed that "natrodavyne", previously considered as nepheline or davyne, occurs in two different habits: predominantly prismatic (elongated) and predominantly dipyramidal (squat), the latter beign the rarer of the two. Re-identified as afghanite by Parodi et al. (1996).
