About Foordite-Thoreaulite Series
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Series Formula:
Sn2+Nb2O6 to Sn2+Ta2O6
A series between Foordite and Thoreaulite
Rare constituents of complex, rare-element, Li-Cs-Ta-rich (LCT-family) granitic pegmatites. Influx of late-magmatic to hydrothermal fluids and/or alkali elements under higher fO2 may cause breakdown of foordite-thoreaulite and production of cassiterite and numerous Nb, Ta-oxide minerals (Uher et al., 2008).
