Name:
The name was introduced by d`Andrada in 1800 for a mineral from the Utö mines in Sweden. The name is derivated from the greek words for fish, ἰχθύς and eye, οφθαλμός, after the fisheyelike lustre of the mineral. Later showed to be identical with apophyllite.
