Formula:
(Na,Ca)(Si,Al)6O11
also given as (CaxNa1–x)Al3+xSi3–xO11
A Martian mineral, found in few meteorites.
Occurs as intergrowths with stishovite, and may also be intergrown with Al-bearing silicate with the hollandite structure (this is most likely lingunite)
Genesis: pockets of shock melt of plagioclase composition.
The Ca-dominant end member was synthesized (at HP; has barioferrite-type structure). This member is possibly now also known as a mineral: donwilhelmsite.
EMPA data [wt.%]:
Na2O 6.96
K2O 0.53
CaO 4.4
MgO 0.05
FeO 0.13
Al2O3 47.88
SiO2 40.05
total 100
This corresponds to (Na0.83Ca0.29K<0.04)Al2.91Si2.95O11.
