Name:
For its pistachio-green color.
Petrologists have used the name "pistacite" to name the hypothetical composition Ca2Fe3+3[Si2O7][SiO4]O(OH) component in the the clinozoisite–epidote series. Armbruster et al. (2006) recommend to avoid the use of "pistacite" for this component and suggest that the expression XFe=Fe3+/(Fe3+ + Al) should be used instead.
