Epidotite

The definition by the IUGS is a metamorphic rock with epidote as the major (>75%) constituent (Fettes & Desmons, 2007). It may be nearly monomineralic but typically contains some quartz and/or amphiboles etc.


The name is also used, confusingly, depending on context, as a synonym of epidote, a synonym of epidosite and of epidote amphibolite.
