One of a few phases found included in Pt-Fe and Os-Ir-Ru alloys, the other ones being UM1990-39-S:CuFeIrNiPtRh, UM1990-50-Sb:PbPdPt, UM1990-41-S:CuPd, and UM1990-76-Te:BiIrPbPtRh.

Chemically similar to but optically distinct from UM1961-09-Sb:CuPd.

Occurs in a Pt-Fe alloy, as droplet-like inclusions, up to 15 microns across.
