Name:
Analysed first by Barbier and Prost (1908). First believed to be the monoclinic analogue of albite with only 1.15 wt.% K2O. Named by Schaller (1910) after Phillipe Barbier (1848-1922), professor of chemistry at the University of Lyons. Schneider and Laves (1957) showed that a specimen assumed to be the holotype was a microcline.
