About Hälleflinta
An obsolete term used mostly in Sweden and Finland for a fine-grained compact quartzofeldspathic rock of horny aspect, which may be banded and/or blastoporphyritic. It is derived from acid igneous rocks or acid tuffs and is partly synonymous with leptynite.
Compare also leptite.
Ojakangas and Marmo (1995) considered the Proterozoic Leptite and Halleflinta (Tuff and Tuffite) Sequences of Southern Finland to be tectonised quartzofeldspathic volcanic rocks.
